Brand Spotlight: Marine Serre

Artist Spotlight is a fashion-focused segment that takes a deep dive into the unique backstories and their creative processes. Highlighting the fashion industry's hidden gems and innovative talents.

For the 26th segment in this series, we are highlighting Marine Serre.

Marine Serre is a French fashion designer who was born in a small village in Corrèze, France in 1991. Serre initially wanted to pursue a career as a tennis player but soon found an interest in fashion and an appreciation of vintage clothes thanks to her grandfather.

She pursued her career in fashion by going to Belgium’s La Cambre, a renowned art school, and graduating with Highest Honors with her collection Radical Call for Love. She then went on to hold internship positions at Alexander McQueen, Dior under Raft Simmons, and Maison Margiela. She worked as a Junior designer at Balenciaga with creative director Demna Gvasalia while developing her own label.

Serre adopted the signature crescent moon as her brand symbol and used it to represent her first collection. The collection featured an assortment of denim pieces and bodysuits. The iconic moon bodysuit has been seen on celebrities like Beyonce for her “Black is King” musical film project, Dua Lipa, and Kylie Jenner.

Sustainability has always been a big part of Serre’s design process. She uses innovative ways to regenerate materials into parts of her collection. She recycles existing materials and deadstock fabrics into brand new pieces for her collection.
